The day for the official start of the STAG European Veterans Championships has arrived. The Opening Ceremony will take place this evening at 6 pm in the Main Hall of the Rimini Fair.
The first institutional speaker will be the director of the event Giuseppe Marino and after him the councilor Mattia Morolli will take the stage, representing the Municipality of Rimini. Subsequently the president of the International Table Tennis Federation, Petra Sörling will deliver her greetings.
The parade of flags of the 42 participating countries will then take place, on the notes of the Inno alla Gioia. The acting president of the European Table Tennis Union, Pedro Moura, will speak and declare the STAG European Veterans Championships open, then together with Sörling and Marino will award the two longest-lived European and Italian athletes, 94-year-old Czech Eliska Krejcova, 94-year-old Belgian Jozef Jansens, 73-year-old Rita Pogosova and 89-year-old Italo Bolther. The Italian National Anthem will be performed by the "Appassionante" group.
The second part of the ceremony will be inaugurated by dances with Romagna music. The show will continue with a performance by the Rhythmic section of the Italian Gymnastics Federation. The return to the local tradition with dances with whips on the notes of Romagna music will be proposed by the Rimini Dance Company. In the following, the trio of "Appassionante", composed of Giorgia, Mara and Stefania, will again be the protagonist. It is recognized as the first female opera-pop musical group in the world, which boasts a long career at an international level and is capable of attracting and thrilling the spectators with their special musical timbre and his interpretative ability.
The closing will be marked by the trio and about twenty rhythmic gymnastics performers. In short, it will be a special evening, in which art and sport will merge in the name of Italianness and territoriality. The ideal way to project on the competitions, which will start tomorrow and will last throughout the week.
